Bill your treatment materials: it's possible with HIP
Position 7361 has no fixed amount you decide. HIP lets you bill it in 2 minutes.
Physiotherapists and paramedical therapists who work with HIP, the billing software from Ärztekasse Genossenschaft for therapy practices, can now bill their treatment materials via personalised sub-items. Bandages, consumables, small devices — everything you use during a session can now appear on your invoice, at the price you have defined, within a validity period you have set.
In the KVG tariff structure for physiotherapy, item 7361 “Surcharge for treatment materials” — tape, bandage material, padding, material for pelvic floor rehabilitation, electrotherapy or respiratory therapy — has no defined point value. It is the practice’s responsibility to set its own price.
HIP – Healthcare Information Portal by Ärztekasse now makes this possible in a simple way, thanks to personalised sub-items.

What is a material sub-item in HIP?
In HIP, a sub-item allows you to create a personalised variant of an existing tariff code. You define:
- the billing price
- the VAT rate
- the validity date (to plan price adjustments in advance)
How do you create a sub-item in HIP?
The process takes less than two minutes:
- Go to Settings > Catalogues
- Select your tariff (e.g. KVG Physiotherapy)
- Search for the relevant base item (e.g. 7361)
- Click the three dots to the right of the item
- Select New sub-item
- Fill in the form: price, VAT, validity date
- Save
During a session, select item 7361 in your catalogue all your sub-items will be displayed. HIP calculates the amounts automatically.
You can also integrate this sub-item into a meta-tariff to group services and materials into a single reusable block ideal for therapy series.
